Writer's Market is one of the most useful tools for any serious writer. Excellent, up-to-date information.
A Writer's Must-Have! March 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Every passionate writer needs to own the 2008 Writer's Market. It's the easiest way to find out where you should try and sell your writing. The entries list publishers' websites, too, and that's the best way to learn about the publisher, their current publishing needs, and get their writer's guidelines.
I also highly recommend Sally Stuart's 2008 Christian Writer's Market Guide. Buy both (tax write-off!) so you can pitch articles and proposals to both markets, reaching the largest readership.
Writer's Market May 20, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Writer's Market is a tool I've been using for years with some success. It's invaluable in these screwy days when even published writers can't get a reading from editors without an agent. Interestingly, there seems to be some mobility among the agenting community. Of a dozen letters to agents, four have come back because of changed addresses.
A Comprehensive Resource For All Writers June 5, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
PROS: One of the best resources for writers. It's well organized and shows the who's who of the publishing world.
CONS: It would help if there were more guidance on writing book proposals and query letters. The advice is there and it is helpful, but I would like more. However, I didn't feel it was the job of this book to get into that (there are other books that tackle that issue), so I'm still giving the book 5 stars.
CONCLUSION: If you want to write for magazines or you want to publish a good, this resource covers all your bases.
On the Short List for Book References! June 15, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This resource guide is on the short list of desk references for writers. This includes people who write books, articles and more. It is thoroughly researched, comprehensive, extremely well organized and written, has fantastic resources and is full of great ideas.
The detail and accuracy of this book is amazing. For example, in the query letter section, good and bad examples are given to help you write the best query letter possible.
Topics include, but are not limited to: How much should I charge?, How to find (and Keep) the right agent, Script Agents, Book Publishers (the section is huge!), Playwriting and more.
This is an essential resource for any serious writer!
