YOUR GUIDE TO GETTING PUBLISHED June 1, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Back in 1991, I was studying creative writing under a published author. The one thing we learned was to expect an average 70 rejections no matter if were beginners or seasoned pros. So if you write something, and you send it to be published, and it is rejected...DON'T GIVE UP!!! With that in mind let me say that this book is one of, if not THE most, respected publications in its field. There are literally over 1000 different publishers of various types of material in this huge book. Publishers of both fiction and nonfiction, publishers of books as well as magazine publishers, complete with addresses and in some cases, phone numbers, email addresses, and websites. This huge publication houses some of the most respected names in writing, which is another bonus of this book. You get "THE BIG BOYS", plus you get smaller publishers. Publishers of religious material, porn, poetry, short stories, novels, history, sports, hobbies, and much much more. Another bonus of this fine publication, is that it has tips for how to increase your chances of being published as well as notes some of the legal aspects of the art. My first two articles I had printed and PAID for, were the result of sending my material to publishers in this handy guide. So if you're looking for an publication that will greatly increase your chances of getting published, you need this long time established tool.
Writers Market review January 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
There is really no book like it, but that is not what makes it a fine product. What makes it a level above many reference books are the added value items. The book has practical advice from authors and agents. It has advice on cover letters, style and so much more. If you want to do some freelance writing, publish your work or simply thinking of writing, and you need to know where to start. just who to contact and what format to use, this is the book!

If You Had Only One Source... January 18, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
...and you don't, but if you did only have one source as a writer, there is none better than the Writer's Market, year after year after year. This benchmark bible of publishing does not in fact contain everything the writer needs to know in order to publish, but it comes close. And when used with a number of companion sources, it is as complete a set of resources as exists. Well organized, intuitive, almost totally up to date and certainly informative and educational, this standby is a must each year. Writer's Market-A Valuable Resource for Writers February 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I purchased the book as part of the required course reading for one of my writing classes. I find it to be chock-full of good information and tips for anyone that wishes to submit their writings to potential publishers. There is a huge range of publishing mediums in the book so you can pretty much zero in on any genre that you specifically write about. Although it is not a complete list of every magazine out there, I feel it is more than adequate to get you where you want to go and perhaps beyond. A good reference book to have!
