BUY THIS BOOK! August 23, 1998 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This book is essential to any student, high school or beyond. I am an English teacher and tell all students and parents to buy a copy. I own two copies - one for school and one for my home.
a definite must have January 30, 2001 3 out of 5 found this review helpful
the mla handbook is a must have for any english major (or any other college student), writer, or professional. it's easy to understand and covers everything. it's probably the best help you can have when writing a paper.
The ONLY Source for Citing Sources January 31, 2002 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers is the de-facto standard for citing sources within a research paper. The other guidelines in the book are good also, but the citation examples and formats are what I used the book for most. If you cite using the MLA format, it is hard to go wrong. I had several of my teachers in high school ask to borrow my MLA Handbook so they could refer to it. It is one book that will be used over and over again, throughout high school and into college, and then perhaps on to graduate school.
This is essential September 23, 2004 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Every student needs this, starting in HS, English reports start early in 10th grade, and you need this book, as I'm sure your teacher will tell you many times. However they are correct in that it is the most useful, and yet non-boring nor complicated resource available to writing papers, and college, forget about it, if you don't have this you might as well drop out already. There is no doubt this will impove your score.
MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers, Sixth Edition September 18, 2005 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book will take you step by step on how to write a research paper. The topics are listed at the beginning of each parragraph. Some of the paragraphs have the main points and highlights at the end. It's a great book to have handy.
