Required manual for college students January 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Easy directions for preparing professional papers for college work where the manual is required. Recommend all college students have a copy for their personal files and keep it updated for professional work after graduation.
All you need in one book March 9, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you work with English words, there isn't much you need to know that cannot be found in this reference, really. Of course, you should keep in mind that it is intended as a reference, not as a guide, course or "FOR DUMMIES" issue. A Dummy myself, I started out reading O'Conner's Woe is I, and the classic The Elements of Style.
The Chicago Manual of style March 18, 2007 1 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is just great! This is the manual you need to design the proper style of your web pages if your designing your own web site or pages. It is a MUST to have in your collection. I'll treasure this book for a long time.
Can't write without it June 25, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The definatve guide, imho. There are so many little details I find myself double checking with this as I edit. Very comprehensive.
the standard June 27, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I came across this book years ago when I had to knock out a paper for my college professor. The references had to be according to the Chicago Manual of Style.
I've found out since then that there are other manuals of style but when working with some printers they told me that the Chicago Manual of Style is the print industry standard.
In spite of that handicap the book is well written and laid out. I find it relatively quick and easy to find whatever information I need. A book like this completes your library of English reference books. You can learn from here, for instance, what is an em dash or an en dash.
