Essential Reading for Anyone Serious About Writing Well March 2, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this when it first came out. I don't use a manual very much any more: as a copywriter I pretty much make my own style. But when I was working in more academic fields it was indispensable.
If you haven't got it you're probably making mistakes that will be noticed by anyone more experienced. Cover your back and buy it!
A "Must Have" For Your Library March 14, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Chicago Manual of Style is tight as drum. They cover all of your style questions and much more. For some, the manual can be overwhelming; The Elements of Style (Strunk & White) might be more suitable.
Important but confusing August 10, 2006 1 out of 6 found this review helpful
This book is necessary for understanding how to cite works using Chicago style, but it can be confusing and unclear. However it has many example sections which I found useful.
A must have for scholars. November 5, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
Anyone who wishes to publish scholarly work must have this book.
Good Book January 10, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book. It came quick and in great condition. I use this book and the AP Stylebook as well for all my references. A must have.
