5 out of 5 stars Educational Research Textbook Review   November 19, 2000

Educational Research: Competencies for Analysis and Application by L.R. Gay and Peter Airasian is a wonderful textbook for assisting people who are writing a Research paper or doing their Masters thesis. Each chapter of this book is very understanding, well organized and written. This book goes through a step by step process of educational research, so that a person can fully understand what it is. It provides you with a variety of samples to help answer any questions you may encounter while doing your paper. This book was a great resource in helping me prepare for my Action Research paper.

5 out of 5 stars Great book for the beginning researcher...   December 31, 1998

Educational Research is a well organized book covering the basics of research. It presents the basic types of research and gives sample studies of each.

I personally used this book while completing my PhD and found it informative. The book is presented in a format that would be most helpful for the master's degree student however...for the student taking his first or second research course.

4 out of 5 stars Excellent resource   November 18, 1998

Gay has created an excellent resource for anyone who is writing a dissertation or a masters thesis. This book takes you step by step through the process in great detail. If you are clueless about thesis writing, this is a great place to start -- like having someone there to hold your hand through the entire process.

I needed this book for my Research Methods class at the beginning of my Graduate School Semester. This book really assisted me with writing for APA style during my first and subsequent research papers. GREAT TOOL!

This edition has some minor changes from the 6th and 7th edition, mainly just page numbers. If you can find the 6th or 7th edition cheaper, it is vitural the same book
