Product Description
In this talk, a brilliant summation of his teachings, Eckhart Tolle begins by describing a problem all humans face: a strict sense of self based in personal history, mental interpretations, and memories of the past; a sense that’s forever being reinforced through habitual thought patterns. When listeners identify with these thought patterns, they create what Tolle calls “the little me,” a person imprisoned within rigidly defined boundaries. Yet, as he explains, “the little me” is not the truth of who one is, but of who one was, and reflects a past that no longer exists. He gently guides listeners on a journey into the present moment, into that spacious stillness where they are more than they think — where they are, in fact, part of a great, mysterious whole. Achieving this transcendent state allows listeners to move beyond self-defeating limitations and live lives of grace, ease, and lightness.

NOTE: Repackaging of an excellent program September 20, 2006 36 out of 38 found this review helpful
In the Presence of a Great Mystery was released some time ago as a 3 CD set (2 hours 49 minutes). It is from Eckhart's Intensive Series. The content is obviously timeless, but those of you who have a large collection, should probably see if you already own it before checkout.
It is recorded live (relax, it was done professionally) and the content is excellent. It's a great program, but I imagine if you have read The Power of Now, you know that and don't need me to explain any further, if you haven't, do yourself a favor and start there.
More Classic Eckhart April 18, 2007 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
I followed Eckhart's every word for two years, and he taught me a lot, some directly and some indirectly. He's simply one of the most effective spiritual teachers on the planet, with the absolute best, most peaceful voice out there. If you're a seeker, seek here. If you're in pain, take these CDs and get some rest. If you're scared, use these to keep the Light on. Peace.
Same ideas without the inspiration and humor this time November 5, 2006 17 out of 19 found this review helpful
I listened to the entire CD and did not bring anything new. My favorite work of his is 'Living a Life of Inner Peace'. Plus, for some reason Eckhart Tolle here is missing inspiration and humour!
He does it again! April 11, 2007 13 out of 13 found this review helpful
Eckhart Tolle cannot seem to fail when it comes to imparting to us exactly what we need to hear to make our lives better. Thank you! to my favorite spiritual teacher, for yet another gem in my consciousness. Is it, according to another reviewer, "re-packaged" material? Hey, what isn't? But it's the packaging and the soul of the packager that makes me want to listen, to hear, to stay right in the NOW instead of wandering away with my objectifying "pals" (those voices, voices, voices that add up to nothing in the long run). I love his "halting" phrases, phrases that make you lean forward to "hear" more...and to "hear" the stillness. Love, love, love - this man knows how to love the world. And he knows how to help us love more, too. I'll be playing this CD over and over, and passing it on to other friends who have discovered the joy - and the resulting love - of "inner space."
His is an evocative, moving study which comes alive on audio. November 7, 2006 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Almost all humans share a sense of identity based on personal history, mental interpretations of the world, and memories of the past: it's how these all combine which make for differing perspectives and personalities. In the Presence of a Great Mystery surveys additional influences to draw links between these facets and the spiritual world, considering greater realities which influence and exist beyond the ideals of history and personality. His is an evocative, moving study which comes alive on audio.
