A staple of every children's writer's library August 8, 2007 22 out of 22 found this review helpful
No matter how diverse, every successful children's writer has one thing in common -- a copy of the current Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market on their bookshelf.
This is an indispensible guide, featuring up to date submissions info for every major publisher and children's magazine in North America, lots of great articles and hidden gems throughout. You needn't be an experienced, published author to benefit -- Alice Pope and her staff present the information in a clear, easy-to-understnd manner that makes it accessible and useful for every writer. Highly, highly recommended.

Very Helpful August 20, 2007 15 out of 15 found this review helpful
I am so glad I picked up this book! It has all kinds of useful information (and it doesn't cost a few hundred dollars like some other market books). I plan on using the information inside to help me find an agent and hopefully get my self-published book picked up by a real publisher.
If you plan on writing for children/young adults, this is a must have tool - it has agent listings, contests, tips, definitions of industry terms (which really helped me out), and other great information all at your finger tips.

Valuable from the first section. January 22, 2008 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
Wow! I went to sleep late the night this arrived. I gained much and I'm still reading through the first few articles. This is packed with valuable "how to" information. It also contains loads of references. But from the very beginning, this book help me to think of my writing as a business and a passion, not just a passion. A must buy!
The only thing I could do without is the author's intro. I really don't think a story about journaling the first time she was drunk has a place in a guide on children's book writing. Remind me not to let my children read any of her books.
Children's Writer's & Illustrator's Market 2008 (Children's Writer's and Illustrator's Market) August 24, 2007 8 out of 9 found this review helpful
This book is a must if you write for children or you are an illustrator. Not only do you have the market palces and web site address there are articles and interviews of authors and editors. There is so much infromation it's the only reading you need to do when your not writing.
Waste of money April 28, 2008 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
After my purchase, I was excited to review the updated copy of this book, since I had the old 2007 version and I was disappointed to find out, that the new book contained the same old information. The updates are not even accurate, for example, I submitted my work to few publishers, who notified me later that they no longer accept manuscripts, where in the book, the very opposite is stated. I feel that I found much better information on the net that in this book. Maybe this book is OK for agents, but definately not for first time writers. I would not recommned this book and I feel that it is a huge waste of money. Most of the listed publishers no longer accept manuscripts, so what is the point to have this book?
